Bio
I'm a 20 year old sociology and communications student in Canada. I enjoy writing, but I haven't been able to write creatively in a while since my education has taken me in a different (and to me, less desireable) direction.
My writing style tends to be somewhat dreamy. Things in my stories are more beautiful, terrible, or intense than they ever would be in real life. This tends to be both a blessing and a curse - the writing tends to take on a dramatic flare of its own, but it might alienate and depress the reader. The mundane does not exist in my writing, and I'm not sure if this is a good thing.
I'm here to learn more about what works and what doesn't, particularly in regards to balance. I'm looking at:
- Description: how much is too much? At what point does intriguing imagery become painful or dull?
- Characterization: what can change the nature of a character?
- Omniscience: how much insight should be revealed in text versus dialogue? Should text be used to supplement dialogue, or vice versa? Does this apply to events as well?
- Dialogue: how does one make a character speak realisitically while still saying precisely what needs to be said?
My first work, Out of Sight, Out of Mind, exists as an ongoing experiment for these questions and a few others. I'd like to thank anyone who reads, rates, or reviews my work - I'd also like to thank the other authors here, who are unwittingly participating in my learning experience. :D
Out of Sight, Out of Mind will be getting a facelift at some point after its completion (days 5-7+epilogue still being written); shorter chapters will be embellished, choppy events will be smoothed, and days 3 and 5 will be largely revised. It'll be called the 'Original Sin Extented Edition' and will probably be submitted to a few archives. Any suggestions for the facelift are appreciated.
I'm also in the process of planning a second DBZ Yaoi fiction that takes into account what I've learned from the first. All I'll reveal is that the new one will be set entirely on Vegetasei...
*maniacal cackle*
I'm not insane. Really I'm not.
