After the bombs went off, and the eventual fall of society, Mars was one of the countless children orphaned. Something about having to adapt to a completely new way of life; most adults just couldn't take it. Years of scavenging on the streets, fighting just for survival, had made the boy not only powerful, but ruthless. He learned at a young age that the only place empathy and kindness get you is six feet under. Determined to escape the warlords and gangs of post-apocolyptic San Francisco, Mars set off for himself at the tender age of 14.
