I'm probably older than most of the readers and writers of the fan fiction on this site. I'm a big Harry Potter fan, dating to the time I started reading the HP books to my 6 year old (at the time) daughter. I read every word of the first five books to her, and obviously, by then I was hooked, too. I'm not a professional writer, but as a suburban police officer, report writing ws a major part of my job. That means I understand the importance of proper grammar, spelling, and the like; and that I know if it can take away from producing an understandable report, then it can take away from a quality story idea as well. So why do I read 'adult' fan fiction? I remember the "good old days" , when I was the age of most of these characters, and you know what they say about the good old days: You weren't being good, you weren't very old, and you were talking mostly about the nights. While JKR might have ignored the realities of a school full of teenagers, witches and wizards or not, the snogging and shagging are alot more real than ignoring the subject. I don't know if I've got enough creativity in me to produce a story of my own, but I'm impressed by those of you who do. If anyone is looking for an editor, I might be able to help.
