I was raised in the South (Georgia to be specific). I currently live in Tennessee. I'm in my early 30's. I have degrees in the sciences. I have a B.S in biochemistry and a M.S in genetics. I'm an animal lover. I have 2 dogs and a horse. I'm also very much a tomboy. I drive a pickup truck, live out in the country, and listen to country music (George Strait is my favorite artist). I also like classical music and the swing stuff from the 1940's. I like some jazz and blues. I don't like rock, rap, pop, hip hop, alternative, or any of that stuff. I have a fondness for Harry Potter and Pirates of the Caribbean fanfic. Since I was a little girl, I've always loved to read, and fanfiction is my guilty pleasure (well, that and chocolate--heehee). My favorite character in the HP universe is Hermione. I enjoy reading fics where she is paired with Draco, Harry, or Ron. I will also read fics where she is paired with Blaise Zabini. I also enjoy menage fics with any or all of the above wizards with Hermione. I don't like to see Hermione paired with any other wizards, and hate femmeslash. I also like to read Lily paired with Snape or any of the Marauders (minus Peter Pettigrew/Wormtail). Sirius is my favorite of the Marauders. As for Pirates fics, my tastes are much simpler. I read J/E, W/E, or J/W/E fics. That's all that I read from this film. I prefer the J/W/E triad fics, but unfortunately most of these concentrate exclusively on the J/W aspect, and Lizzie is left watching the action between the boys. I prefer fics where the boys' focus is on Lizzie with a little J/W on the side. I like slash, but only if a female is present in the fic. This is applicable to HP fics too. For some reason, I can't enjoy a pure slash fic. The slash has to be in the confines of a menage for me to like it. Go figure. I prefer J/E to W/E mainly because I feel Knightley and Bloom have very little (if any) natural chemistry in the films whereas Knightley and Depp make the screen crackle with their chemistry. I like Will as a character, and I can be persuaded to read W/E, but only if it is well written and Will isn't a wimp. I can't stand a wimpy Will. I like to read fics with fluff, romance, D/s undertones, and angst, but I like happy endings. I always enjoy fics where the author has filled the fic with so much angst you think "No way will this end happily", but then, the writer pulls a rabbit out of her (or his) hat and gives you a happy ending. I don't like to read rape fics, incest fics (YUCK!!!), or non-con fics. Dubious consent is fine, but not out and out non-con. I also don't like D/s fics where a person is beaten. Spanking is fine, but being beaten bloody or suffering broken bones is not. Lastly, I don't mean to be picky, but I want to send a comment out there to all writers. Please make sure that you beta and spellcheck your fics. I have to be honest here. I will stop reading a fic that is riddled with spelling and grammatical errors. And more often than not, these are the most imaginative stories. I know we all make mistakes, and a few errors are acceptable. But when the entire fic has errors of these kind, it's off-putting to the reader. Well, I guess that's enough about me. If any of y'all made it this far. I salute you.
