Raised in an extended family of teachers who encouraged me to write, but then mortified me utterly by picking up anything I left around and marking in in red pen. Teachers by default - and I was incredibly shy about my writing, so I hid it, from age 10 until a few months back when I thought '' I'm getting on, there is no proof anywhere I did anything with my life '' After three huge arguments about '' wasting time '' writing, I had a fit of courage and posted this story, as a '' nya, nya, nya '' to those people. And then, I just kept on, so my stories will be '' somewhere. ''. Apparently that makes it more real? I have no idea, all my writing seemed real when it was on A4 lined pads and hidden away, but there you go. I've been reading Tolkien for 20 odd years, constantly, although I read HoME just for more in depth info and stories, like the Fall of Gondolin, I am not interested in the languages, or how the legendarium evolved really, or why Tolkien was unhappy about the Sun and Moon myth, etc - I just look for more little gems I can incorporate into FF, basically, more about Elves. I have also studied the myths of the Elves and where Tolkien drew his Elves from, and found a rich Northern European folklore wherein the Elves are very similar to those in the Silmarillion, not etheral, floaty beings, but blazing. Their faults, as much as their magnificence, fascinates me. I play with the idea that Tolkien stumbled upon a true '' history '' but being the man he was, in the time he was, sanitized it a little, and that it was even more complex, fierce, tragic and glorious than the books tell it. So that's how I write it. I am in my late 30's so my '' efforts '' deal with adult situations. I write AU slash not because I do not know LACE or canon,[ I do ] but because I like writing it, simple as that. I like passionate, erotic slash. I like reading it too, although not PWP, I like there to be a story. I will always rate my stories as AU, so that purists can avoid them. ( Although Tolkien did not invent Elves, as they are in his works, and the '' real '' Elves were apparently as I like to write them.) However, I follow canon dates and histories and write within that until the story goes '' beyond '' Tolkien's mythology. I judge myself by three authors who were lauded as incredible writers, most especially for their vocabularies, and since I'll never reach their level, I am always unhappy with my writing. Forays into roleplay, which became stories, allowed me to meet two ladies, who I've been writing interactive stories with for the past 9 months, Baimeldis and Anwyn. We decided to make a site for writing and exploring stories within all Ages of Middle-earth. These became the ongoing '' histories '' of Maedhros and Fingon, of Glorfindel and Ecthelion, Baimeldis' own work on the story of Legolas, which I contributed to - writing Glorfindel -, and the life of Maglor's son Tindómion and his hatred and love for his father. That story became entwined with the characters in '' Dark Prince '' and eventually went on to stories set after the War of the Ring. All their stories do lock together to make a whole, - eventually. d;-) I read, and write like a man dying for a pint of Cider drinks, and almost everything is too short for me, so I naturally tend to write sprawling, long stories. The Lord of the Rings was too short. Favorite thing to say about myself: '' When I was born the midwife slapped my mother. '' Pet hates: People who say '' I couldn't get into the Silmarillion, it's like reading the Bible
