First found this on the Mass Effect kink meme several years ago, a site I still visit sometimes and would advise others to do so also. Some jewels on there, such as this.

I have found few Mass Effect stories that are better-written than this, in terms of characterisation, worldbuilding, and general technique. To this day the dance scene in chapter three stands out in my memory as being a brilliant piece of writing in all regards.

However, all this does come with a caveat- this is a grim story, as I see the author themselves mentions in their opening note. I do believe I couldn't actually finish it in the end, though I got close, because it was so miserable.

I still recommend it though; it wouldn't have been as tough as it was if it hadn't been such a well-crafted piece of work.
